A Tasmanian Christmas We’ll Never Forget 🎄

We spent Christmas week exploring Tasmania, and somehow managed to fit so much into just one short week. It was the perfect mix of slowing down, making family memories with our bestie Nay Nay, and squeezing every bit of adventure out of this incredible place.

Even though we were far from home, we brought our holiday traditions with us. There was lots of cooking and baking, filling our days with familiar smells and moments that made Christmas in Tasmania feel extra special. Between meals, we got outside as much as possible—long walks, fresh air, and plenty of stops at epic playgrounds that kept everyone happy.

Tasmania’s beaches quickly became a highlight. We explored Marion Bay, Seven Mile Beach, and Long Beach—hands down some of the coolest beaches we’ve ever visited, with the coldest water and the best seashells. The water was freezing, the scenery was wild and beautiful, and the shell collecting alone could have kept us entertained for hours.

One of our favorite ways to explore was renting electric bikes and cruising along the bike paths. It was such a fun, easy way to see more while keeping things relaxed and family-friendly. The kids liked being carted around in the “trolly”. We also made time for a few local favorites, including stops at Cascade Brewing and Bream Creek Winery.

The absolute highlight of the week was our visit to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Seeing Tasmanian devils up close (they are so cute), spotting wombats, and getting to feed kangaroos was pure magic. Feeding the kangaroos was everyone’s favorite moment—we fell completely in love with them and are still be talking about it daily.

Santa even managed to find us all the way in Tasmania and brought an unforgettable surprise: Big Bash cricket tickets to see the Hobart Hurricanes take on the Melbourne Renegades 🎅🏏. We had an absolute blast at the game. The BBL (Big Bash League) is fast-paced, high-energy cricket with loud music, pyrotechnics, and a crowd that was fully into it—including a full-on wave circling the stadium. It honestly reminded us so much of sports games back home, just with a very Aussie twist. Such a fun experience and a highlight of the week.

Christmas in Tasmania was everything we hoped for: adventurous, meaningful, and full of moments we’ll remember forever. We hope everyone had a very merry Christmas. We love and miss you all—and we’re so grateful for a holiday spent exploring somewhere truly special.
